Here’s your weekly recap—the most viewed news stories on our site for the week ended September 30, 2023. INDA, the Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry, awarded industry veteran Ed Thomas with a Lifetime Technical Achievement Awards at the RISE Conference earlier this week. Thomas retired after 39 years, with 32 years in the nonwovens industry, and has remained active teaching the Intermediate Nonwovens Training Course for INDA and The Nonwovens Institute at North Carolina State University, as well as providing consulting services to the industry. Thomas holds 10 U.S. nonwoven patents and he and his teams have been awarded more than 250 patents for numerous and diverse innovations that have played significant roles in the success of the nonwovens industry. These include applications for the global hygiene market, industrial nonwovens, and filtration media. In other news, ExxonMobil is working with JL Goor to help drive growth in the Ireland and United Kingdom (U.K.) healthcare sector, building on an existing well-regarded long-term relationship. JL Goor will have access to ExxonMobil’s broad healthcare portfolio which can provide the building blocks to engineer a range of applications including medical supplies, infection protection products, and pharmaceutical and laboratory supplies. The portfolio includes Vistamaxx performance polymers, ExxonMobil polypropylene (PP), Exact polyolefin elastomers, and Achieve Advanced PP which are designed to meet changing healthcare market needs for healthy, safe material options.
